Art director and graphic designer Erik Spee was born on August 24, 1980, in Gouda, The Netherlands.
Although born in Gouda, Erik spent his first twenty five formative years in Bodegraven, a small Dutch town near Gouda. At the prompting of teachers, he attended a creative school called Nimeto in Utrecht. At this high school Erik started his creative career and developed his software skills and technical capabilities. Erik attended subjects like decoration, interior design, display, window dressing, graphic design, computer software, etcetera. Clearly an all round package of creative skills. After four years, in 1999, he graduated and joined the academy of arts in Rotterdam, called the Willem de Kooning Academy. During this study he started his own company Bodegrafisch. At the academy he experienced the creative mindset and lifestyle of Rotterdam.
At the end of 2007 Erik moved to Gouda, a small city near Rotterdam, famous for it’s Dutch cheese and "stroopwafels". Because he moved to Gouda, Erik renamed his company into Dutchvertising, a small creative advertising agency, creating interactive web projects and campaigns supported with it’s own Content Management System. Parallel to these corporate activities Erik works on free, creative projects. His style can be best described as abstract expressionism.
